We had such a great time at Trattoria da Fortuna. Walking past the owner was standing outside waiting for customers. We were actually headed to another location on the suggestion of a local, but that turned out to be closed. Since this place looked inviting and the owner friendly, we headed back. Very glad we did. It was Thanksgiving and as we were in Naples, Turkey with all the fixins' was out of the questions. But, in usual holiday style, we wanted a traditional feast.
Starting with a carafe of the house wine and a beer, we ordered the combination appetizer plate (sorry, I only got a pic of half this order) of meats, cheeses, rice ball, veg fritters and a potato & cheese dumpling, it was all very tasty and a nice way to sample many of their options. This was a good size for our small party.
Next we selected a Primi of stuffed ravioli to share and Secundi selections of meatballs, escalope and beef braciola, which we also shared. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, topped with a fresh tomato sauce and stuffed with cheese. We all gobbled those up. The meatballs were super tender and tasty, the escalope well cooked and flavorful, and the braciola nice and tender. We were all pleased with the meal.
Being a holiday, we treated ourselves to multiple desserts, because you know, on Thanksgiving there are always lots of desserts. Right? The Babba was so sweet and tasty! Definitly try this one. The lemon tiramisu is a twist on the original and a nice lemony dessert, but nothing like tiramisu except for the lady fingers. The berry tart was also delicious with a custard like filling. It took a lot for us to finish it all, but we managed and it was a very enjoyable experience!
The owner speaks minimal English, but seemed to understand us. Other members of the staff do speak English. They were all super nice and helped make the evening memorable. Definitely recommend this restaurant for it's friendly staff, good service with a smile and some laughs and tasty foods. -

Great service and food. Prices are very reasonable. I had the Genovese Con Carne. The portion was generous, and the meat was great. Perfect sauce. We were a large group, and they accommodated us very well. None of us spoke much Italian, and they didn't speak much English, but they were friendly. With our party of nine, we got out paying less than $100, total. Great place to eat, and tourist friendly.

Typical Napolitan food (no pizza for a change), with great service and good wine from el Vesuvio.
You can get a variety of homemade plates. Special mention for desert : tiramisu al limoncello, delicious!
